Achievement Unlocked: Toweling Off

Ford Prefect is a wise man, despite his name, especially on the subject of towels. Indeed towels seem as odd and inexplicable as Ford himself, nobody knows when or where they were invented. They have simply inveigled their way into our society. Like the Invaders in the eponymous series from the late sixties. Roy Thinnes stars as David Vincent a man who accidentally stumbles on the secret of the alien invasion. Every week would see him trying to expose one of the aliens. Unfortunately David Vincent was an architect and not a special agent of some kind. Which meant he usually failed.

Roy Thinnes was once originally considered for the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek TNG. The part of course later went to Sir Patrick Stewart. Other roles that have gone to Sir Patrick Stewart instead of Roy Thinnes include Xavier in the X-Men trilogy, Captain Ahab in Moby Dick and Claudius in the BBC's 2009 production of Hamlet. Hamlet was written b one of England's foremost writers, William Shakespeare, who was once highly revered by scholars and such but these days he's just towel fodder...

"If you want to survive out here, you've got to know where your towel is."
Ford Prefect
